For some light relief for you all from my more intellectual things I am sharing this series of thoughts and sayings of mine. Here is the fifth installment

Don’t fail to check out, here in The Last Great Gentleman Thinker, the novel and fascinating proposals, though of an intellectual bent, delivered in such a unique and intriguing manner, on such a wide range of subjects, as to be truly of interest and highly informative for all –The stuff of genius!

Consciousness was consolidated the moment we knew we would die, which was also the moment all our (now vast) understanding was born.

My “maybe one day” days are used up.

It takes a lifetime to make a person of yourself, so work away at it steadily, without hurry or worry, so that you arrive at someone you can like, and look back on with fondness, and live with pleasantly for the remainder.

Miracles take years.

Confide yourself to Him in a conscious moment, for He will not impose on you; and then walk quietly thereafter in his company, praying by sharing.

He in you and all around you and you in Him.

Discard all prejudice and dogma, including those which involve Him. Seek to ennoble yourself and cultivate your spiritual companionship with Him in His gentle omnipresence, which is the spirit of His creation. And be free - for so you will be!

All the nonsense spouted since forever, and continues, about punishment and reward in the afterlife - of which there is certainly no punishment - can only be reconciled by it being that: We will be allowed to feel the effects on the affected of the harm we caused on earth and the effects on the affected of the good we did.

In love and friendship separated by space and time, each farewell brings closer the final one, and each farewell becomes more the final one, making greater the gratitude of having been able to give it.

We know enough to know there is a lot we may never know, but we know this: That either we make it on Earth or we perish. That we are not getting off! But, we must try, just for all we will learn through it. And maybe we will get a seed somewhere.

The easier survival becomes the greater purposes Man needs for expressing himself subliminally, yet such manifestations are becoming progressively fewer and more mundane the easier survival becomes, as though great purposes are actually achieved as signs of great survival.

We are close to having done everything we wanted and of having expressed all we could. We are close to all of us living apart from nature. We may be close to pining away and disappearing from lack of purpose and sense of belonging.

What makes us the super species is our Supernatural Power of Deduction only.

The question is - How to be free with yourself?

We expect people to be better than ourselves.

The fundamental upholding factor of its greatness has been that Europe is very good at being poor. The second upholding factor of its greatness has been that Europe is very good at being rich. And America knew it!

Maybe 80%, but maybe 90%, or 95%, or even more, of all human progress and development is attributable to Europe. The two fundamental outside contributions are: The number 0, originating in India, and gunpowder, or ballistics and rocketry, originating in China - but Europeans took us to the Moon, courtesy of the Americans.

Concentration of wealth has afforded humanity all its significant progress and great works.

Passion is the means the spirit uses to express what it has difficulty translating into reason.

The majority and most passionately desired of our wishes are the retroactive ones.

The prime requisite of all genius is good taste.

Virtuosos don’t play, they listen.

…

Family should be the noun of the verb to love.

....

Joan Sutherland (great soprano) once said that, “When sopranos sing they are screaming, and when tenors sing they are shouting”. But Maria Callas was so different because when she sang she was screeching.

...

The expanded voice of woman is the ultimate sound of creation!

...

How easily we swing from pole to pole - As easily as a weathervane.

...

We are all entitled to live up to our noble delusions.

...

You ought to be proud to be able to control and direct your pride, or ego, towards the best result for yourself, primarily, and thus for all concerned.

...

The resentments ride is so rough, and you can’t get off, and it rips you to shreds, and leaves you ragged.

...

The hard thing about resentment is that you were probably in the right to some or every extent, and when you were not, what you resent was being wrong, or, worst of all, making a fool of yourself.

...

Resentment is wishing “with Brimstone and Fire” that those resented live forever in Hell for their most insignificant transgressions against YOU.

...

What happened will not go away, so, for personal peace and happiness, every forgiving has to be renewed over and over.

...

Much is possible which was not possible, but much more is impossible which was possible.

...

The real is diminishing and the artificial is gaining.

...

We are all conceived female, and only become male through a process of biological transformation. So Adam must have been a woman and Eve a man, or else Eve created before Adam. The male human, then, is confirmed as the final and ultimate creation.

...

I didn’t open the Pandora’s Box of social networks and so have become like an Alien or an Angel - No one can see me. I’m the last “Faceinthecrowd”.

The force of change is so relentless that things will even deteriorate to comply with it, e.g., as has happened with automobile design, where driving visibility became so reduced in order to accommodate change in vehicle appearances that unnecessary and costly cameras became required.

We are traversing what was unimaginable - The Economic Age of Consumer Abuse.

...

In an unfixed (not sequential) infinity, all things are possible within its elements except the avoidance of that very possibility.

...

Only what we have spoiled is not inexpressibly beautiful.

...

I’m a multiple masterpiece! Aren’t you?

...

I don’t know what it is, but, believe me! I’ve learned my lesson.

...

The mind of Man will never cease inquiring until it is stopped, or finds God - finding Him being the sole fundamental stimulant and single ultimate objective of all human inquiry.

C’est la vie … vieux!

Just because you can’t cope with yourself doesn’t mean you have to dispose of everyone else.

Concern yourself with yourself, not with how you can concern others.

Never presume that anyone is normal.

True normal should be being absolutely honest with oneself, but that is so scarce it is abnormal.

Leave death behind. Carry forward the spirit.

Leave horrible incidents behind, but continually unravel harmful acquired personality habits.

Evolution is immediate. Nervous parents make nervous children who assume nervousness to be a survival mechanism.

You have to be cool to be hot and to be cool you can’t be cool.

...

Je m’amuse, tu t’amuse, nous nous amusant.

We cannot blame ourselves for the irrevocable facts of life.

Everything is under my control except me.

We exist to express ourselves as uniquely as each of us is. Woman does so naturally and satisfyingly by having babies, while Man must exert himself, seldom wholly satisfyingly, but His eternal frustration in this is the motor of the species.

It is almost ignorant not to believe.

God misses us.

We miss God and get a little sad about it sometimes.

The Anglo Saxon era has been destabilized by the issue from the Trojan horse it brought into its midst.

Have nothing you have to do and lots you want to do.

Our own suffering is the worst. It is the only suffering we can really feel. Our suffering for others is as bad for ourselves as the suffering of those we suffer for is for them. The truth is that we would not want the suffering of others.

The truth is not always benign when we want it to be, no matter how we may force it.

We so easily misinterpret the feeling that what we have done is great, when what we are really feeling as being great is the doing of it, the sense of accomplishment.

Somebody who tries to make somebody of himself for himself is somebody for it.

…

I’m not prejudiced but I am partial.

Hunting developed in men silent, subliminal communication, bonding and devotion. Being in camp together unrestrained in an arena of competition for the men developed in women other traits.

Don’t fight with others. Fight with yourself.

If you can restrain yourself from fighting with others you have won your fight.

Fight to make a better soul of yourself!

You lose to yourself if your case is just and you don’t fight to win it, no matter what, win or lose.

The sum of all opposites is expressed in garlic.

We look through the glass from within the bubble of our misery out on the exquisite self contained indifference of creation.

If only it will last me till I die.

This incurable discomfort will only last till I die.

Have you noticed that nature takes no account of comfort in its design of the body for the vital necessity of sleep?

The world was brought up by children - Look out for the age at which those who executed or produced what decisively influenced the history and creativity of humanity did so.

The world was black and white but we turned it to colour.

I lived the best of the best of times, at the best of ages, having the best of everything in the best of places with the best of people, being of the best, at my best.

The effort and foresight I put into getting back to doing nothing is exhausting and so time consuming that it never lets me get back to doing nothing, and I hate doing nothing.

Grown children destroy parents in the same way parents destroy children, only much more carelessly.

That was a long time ago and this will be too before long.

The fact that you cannot win cannot be allowed to win. It’s the very fact of life, isn’t it?

Do not do the last thing you thought of first!

Say good night to the night, after all, you leave it all alone.

The fact that things could be more hellish doesn’t make them less hellish.

I’m sick with envy, but I don’t care (about what I’m sick with envy about).

I don’t feel like doing anything but I don’t feel like doing nothing.

We are all extremely aware we are not going to last forever, but we live in the forever.

...

When help is paid for it thins out or becomes corrupt.

You have to find out how to replace your corrupt self with your spiritual self, therein a means to contentment.

You are never intelligent enough to know how intelligent you are.

You are intelligent enough to know that you are infinitely more intelligent than you are intelligent enough to know.

...

You have to be intelligent to know you are not intelligent.

Music is the only art - essentially the only form of expression - pure and complete unto itself. It represents nothing but itself. It is its own dimension. It is the only other creation we know, and we developed it, by the Grace of God.

Allow children to take a few notes of a simple known melody and freely reorder and develop them and they will learn their own music.
